Here is the full agenda, I put up a new thread, but now figure everyone is looking here...

Questions:

1. WHEN will we be able to see detailed maps of the (draft) revised proposals so that we can comment on specifics??

2. Will there be a new member of the BRTF now that DB resigned?

BWE members, this is going to be the anti-fishing members turf, we need to show up. There will be a sea of blue shirts, I suspect, they will drag their teen kids, like they did at the SD meeting. Most of which probably could care less about the MLPA, and are more interested in texting, and their Ipods was my observation.

Please rally!

Let's follow Maggie's lead and wear Green, try and drown them out, we are Conservationists too.

BUMP
You know
reading all the fishing reports from LJ and Alaska (you know who you are)lately is killing me
(first yellow, personal best, double hook ups, multiple fish)
The "voices in my head" are saying go go go
My time will come

But you know what is REALLY killing me
the lack of guys committed to the SEPT. 10th. meeting

We have 21 guys on the list at Baytubers
Deduct a couple from that (Chris and Shaggy...)
and we have a pitiful 18-19 guys???

How many here?

All we have to offer are our
Time, Talents or Treasure
What are you putting up?

Thanks to the guys pushing the meetings.
Thanks to the guys working behind the scenes.
Thanks to the guys donating $.
Thanks to the guys attending who dont post.
Thanks to the guys who will make this their FIRST meeting.

Fug the rest of you

This meeting is in LA, I know thats a long drive for many of you
Just pretend you live in LA and are making the long drive to a hot bite at LJ,

It's my wife's birthday but I'll be there.

It's either face the wrath at home for a day, or regret for a lifetime that I didn't do all I could.

Hi, this is my first post. I have been browsing the forums for sometime now. I don't even have a kayak yet, but I fish every other day in the Dana Point harbor.

Anyway.. Does a blue SMCA spot mean we can still fish in that area? Or..

Thanks.

Please attend this meeting on the 10th, and you will meet a lot people there to answer your questions. It is never too late to get started in this process, hope to see you there.

FWIW:

  3. protect or restore diverse marine gene pools;
  4. contribute to the understanding and management of marine resources and ecosystems by providing the opportunity for scientific research in outstanding, representative or imperiled marine habitats or ecosystems;
  5. preserve outstanding or unique geological features; or
  6. provide for sustainable living marine resource harvest.
Restrictions [36710(c) PRC]: it is unlawful to injure, damage, take or posses any specified living, geological or cultural marine resources for certain commercial, recreational, or a combination of commercial and recreational purposes. In general, any commercial and/or recreational uses that would compromise protection of the species of interest, natural community, habitat or geological features may be restricted by the designating entity or managing agency.

Allowable uses [36710(c) PRC]: research, education and recreational activities, and certain commercial and recreational harvest of marine resources may be permitted.

Wow.. so I guess blue means no fishing as well. When they say Dana Point, I wonder if this would include the harbor too.

I will be there to help fight this.. I guess I will hold off on buying a kayak for now. No point in buying one if I cant even go out and fish in it.

You can bet the MLPA's are going to pass. These rich people who want this to pass have probably never spent anytime fishing or diving and can really care less about the economy or the hobbie.

bump.

Blue does not always mean no fishing. Every blue zone is different. Some allow all take of finfish for recreational anglers.
