first report and intro

hey guys, I signed up a bit ago, but never like to give an intro without a report, so here ya go.

took my kayak out for the first time to do some trolling for T's. I've caught more than my share from a boat, but I don't think I have EVER experienced fishing like this before. getting towed on a kayak is awesome.

Since the water was still a bit angry from the winds, my buddy Mike and I decided to make a run up the coast and try to find a secluded location to launch. we found a nice little beach with little to no surf, and launched out at around 9am. My first knock down was about 2 hours after making bait, but then it went dang near wide for the rest of the day. Steady pickings for the both of us.

total count was 6; all on macs. Some were caught on the drift, some on the troll. Heck, I picked one off the bottom drifting for Halibut on a Sardine.
I decided to keep one since I didn't keep any last year, and I probably won't keep anymore this year. But this was a first on the kayak for me.
I am officially addicting to this kayaking thing.

I don't get to kayak fish too often but been wanting to tie into a big thresher for the last 3 years and have not succeeded. Was wondering if you would be kind enough to share your spot. I will not post about your spot I just want to get one of those bruisers. I got a awsome calico spot I would share also If you like. Thanks, -jonathan-

Welcome. That is some intro.
Catching a T from a kayak puts a whole new perspective on the fish doesn't it? Compared to catching one from the relative safety of a boat with higher sides. Puts you up close and personal with the buggers. What a rush!

Again, welcome.

Welcome

Nice Thresher. I just landed my first ever anywhere anyway. I'm also addicted but only have good eating fish and a credit card balance to show for it. Way better than crack.

thanks guys, talk about a maiden voyage, LOL. I got tired of maintenance and gas bills, so I traded my boat for a yak. this was the maiden trip for it.

So I gotta know, will I always have this kind of luck? lol

no, no, no!!!!! LOL...

Chunky, I always use steel leaders. T's will almost always break you off without it. Some just use 150lb mono, but anytime I don't use a steel leader, I get cut off by the tail. Usually a 6' leader, but this trip I went shorter.
