Battery dry box install - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

So yesterday I bought my first kayak. It's a used Malibu Kayak X-Factor. It comes with a fish finder installed but the dry box inside the kayak for the battery just slides around. I'd like to mount it so that it stays in place since I'm worried the sliding around might damage the cables. How can I get this fixed so that it doesn't slide / tumble around during transport.

I have the same kayak and same problem, but it's not really a problem...

Just put an old life jacket in the bow (assuming that's where you put the box) and put the box in it.

It doesn't slide around, doesn't get wet, and you have an extra life jacket if the need arises!

Or if you want to get really fancy, stick some velcro to the bottom inside of the kayak and attach some Velcro strips to the box. I've always just used the life jacket tho cause it keeps it raised in case a bunch of water gets in there. And I've never gotten around to taking 5 minutes to Velcro the box haha.

I always advise customers to remove battery in transport, velcro works or just zip tie a carabiner.

X 2 on the velcro. I used the "industrial grade" or whatever its called and theres no way its coming off even if it flipped. I stuck it to one of my foam supports and it sits up way off the bottom. The batterys are already sealed and i dont bother with a box to put it in. Zero issues with corrosion

yes I would always remove the battery during transport I just want the box to stay in place. I have a little hatchback car and so far use soft pads with straps for transport which means I have to flip the kayak upside down. Seems like a velcro strap should do the trick to keep it in place.

On both my Malibu's I use strips of the 2" velcro and also use 3M weather stripping glue to better secure the velcro to the inside of the kayak (flat on the bottom on either side of the center hatch bag) and some on the matching strips to the bottom of the battery pelican box. I always remove it during transport and storage at home.

I moved mine from the front hatch to the back hatch and like it better. This bracket simply drops into the lid rim of an 8" hatch without further installation. Easy to unplug and remove. No clutter.

I'm using industrial grade 3M strips to hold my box down to my deck and using bungees as extra security:

Concur on the velcro strips...pick them up at home depot or just about anywhere.

I have my 6v batteries taped on the bottom and the other piece to the deck...even with water etc they have not peeled up.

I don't even use a drybox. If you are worried about connector corrosion just use dielectric grease.

I remove my batteries during car transport.

I personally only use sealed lead batteries. Never needed to keep dry. Just Velcro the battery
