Curious to know how many of you carry a PA 14 on a sedan instead of a truck.

I put mine on top of my old Cadillac Escalde...nothing to it as long as your racks can handle the load.

Just asking because as much as Iover my truck I don't have a need for it anymore. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being able to just dump sh@t in the bed but when you're getting 13mpg downhill with the wind to your back in neutral it sucks

Gotta buy a dmax. 25MPG in this hog. Sometimes 30 on the freeway. Diesel is 2.89 a gal at Costco right now. And great for baja.

George..a few years ago I got rid of a pickup truck and only had a car.....hated that choice.

How about just changing to a smaller, more practical truck like a little 4 cyl Toyota? Some newer ones are pretty economical.

How will you drive to Baja with all my crap?

I can go take a picture of my edge insight touchscreen right now if you would like. Just got back from a 60 mile round trip on I15. 28 mpg average. Pulling straight from OBD 2 port. Although Maybe you know more about EFI LIVE and all the upgrades I have on my truck than I do....

Love my tacoma 07 but not that much better on gas .... Maybe I drive like an idiot. I get about 16-18 mpg on it. Or about 270 miles per tank don't k kw how many gallons it takes about 70$ to fill up.... Definitely a smaller 4 cylinder stick shift truck would be sweet on gas

I drive an SUV ... i put all the seats down in the back and slide the kayak right in. Strap it down from the inside, and then tie the rear hatch down as well. Works perfectly and I don't have to worry about it flying off the top of my car. Will take a picture next time I load it up if your interested. Takes all of 5 minutes to load/unload my gear.

I have fit a revo 13, outback, and my buddies hobie outfitter in the back with no problems.

Ford Transit Connect Wagon Long Wheel Base model. Slide my PA 12 in there no issue just like surfisher. Leave everything in the boat and strap her in from the inside. Takes less than 3 minutes. Also when not fishing, put the seats up and seat 6 passengers.

Pics please. I've entertained the idea of trying this, but I'm not comfortable with idea of having my trunk open while going down the freeway.

Here's how I carry my PA-12 in a Ford Freestyle.
Like flemmdog said, Pull it out of the back and everything is ready to go. Works great. The only downside is the wind noise while traveling down the highway

Looks exactly like that ^ .... Except my rear hatch sits flush to the kayak because it isn't blocked by the cart. The only downside, as mentioned above, is the noise of the freeway! I just use the ratchet tie downs to make sure everything stays tight. Works great!

I have a ford escape 4cyl. and put it on the roof. I like having the interior space secured so I don't worry about thieves and cable lock the boat to the roof when I leave the boat for a while. The new escapes with a turbo get about 30 mpg and the roof rack is stronger than my 2011 which I had to reinforce. I used to get 25 mpg when I lived in Ma but for some reason I'm only getting 20 now. I have driven the new one and it felt more powerful. Also, my awd has never slipped even a bit on snow, sand or mud so I have very little worry about bringing it anywhere as long as I'm careful about ground clearance. I also used to have an f250 as well as 93 and 99 grand cherokees that I used to offroad a good amount so I know good 4wheel drive when I feel it.
