Epic Day Today.

Exactly what I needed after over 200 hours and almost a year since my last big fish.
Good to talk with some guys out there, noobs and old school.

Frustrating A.M. with lots of tangles and no squid for me. Also frustrating to see so many idiot yakers with no manners in regard to crowding the boaters or respect for other’s personal space. Guys were trolling lines through others on the anchor, causing messes. Learn boating and fishing etiquette before you go out there. Period.

The day turned better when I traded a Boater a Salas 6X for some squid he had floated in the dark. Best 7 bucks I have ever spent. A few minutes down, zzzzzzzz and another ZZZZZZZZZ. Double hookup! Picked up the first, put the 2nd in gear. Farmed the first after 5 and was stoked to feel myself being pulled backwards with the second fish still on. Ten min later my deck looked like this from the blood of a toad Yellow.

Put him in the hatch and put two more down.5 Min later ZZZZZZZZZ and ZZZZZZZZZZ!
Another Double!

Picked up the first and put the 2nd in gear. Handed off the second rod and after about 5 min, my deck looked like this.

Weighed them on the beach and then on a stationary scale.
44.4 for the VERY thick Yellow and 34 for the WSB.

Time for a bigger cooler.

Looks like snotty weather coming. Glad to get some fish before it gets shut down.

Steveooo,
That's some fish... You could've said what's up, though. J/K.

Dos,
Thanks again for the bait.. You pretty much saved me.

It has been way too long since my last large fish on the kayak. It started out nice with 7 8-9" Squid. At about 8 I get bit hard! I was watching a skiff on a double I was a good distance away and "safe". My toad took off towards the skiff a few moments later they are yelling we are wrapped. Get over here, and don't put in in free spool. I ended up right on top of them. He short stroked his 30+ toad up gaffed and jerked it up and over. We "were" wrapped about 5 times. Dumbly I didn't put it in freespool at this point My spectra was snapped with the weight of two large bodies going in opposite directions. HEARTBREAK! at least I talked to someone at the launch who had a sad story as well, misery loves company.
