Wouldn't want to catch one of these fro the kayak!

This was caught in US waters on The Cortez with Captain Jim... they had great fishing for a light load on a great boat.

This is pretty rare catch and really weird fish.

It was picked up on the troll passing a kelp paddy. The smell and slimy texture reminds me of a barracuda kinda... oh ya the teeth are pretty similar as well!

You never know what you'll catch offshore!

It had a tiny squid and small unknown deep sea fish in its stomach... must have been hungry to come up and hit a trolled feather... these guys are usually found very deep. Most specimens are found washed up on beaches.

I still need to collect tuna stomachs from US waters... anybody willing to help??? I will trade beers for fish carcasses.

my guess is it's a cutlassfish of some type:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutlassfish

used to get these in Fla....scared the crap out of me first time one came over the side. and their strike is as vicious as the looks. good thing they don't grow larger.....
