I plan on being there around that time. Dune (gray) colored Hobie PA14, Black PFD. Post a description and I’ll try spot you, or just come up and say hi to me.

Yellow Hobie outback, Orange PFD. I have a bait tank but no fish finder. I have a 30 lb setup and a 12 lb setup and my own gaff. I have only done bays so. Need to push my limits now, been holding off too long already

Well I didn't take a dive so that's good. Made macks easy but nothing else.

Anyone is planning on going this weekend on Saturday? I have never fished there and typically fish by myself.

How did everyone do?

Question: What’s a good time to fish La Jolla. Is early AM the best generally? If I remember correctly SeaSamurai was saying at the Fred Hall that he is often successful even in the afternoon. What are the typical current patterns in this area?

Thanks,
Tomas

I was out there today, launched at around 5:45. I caught 1 larger mackeral, 2 smaller calico bass, not much else. Another kayaker was heading in after he caught this huge white fish, and so gave me 2 macks he had left over. put 1st on a hook and a sea lion mutilated it a few minutes later, I then threw him the remains, put on 2nd mack which laster ~30-45 minutes but no bites.

I cannot speak to the swells etc. but I have been told launching at or before sunrise is best.

Sorry those baits did not get you a nice White Seabass too. Mine went 42 lbs.
