Haven't targeted in a few years. Prior to the red crab invasion I had my best days using 1-1.5 oz yellow warbait with a skirt and a 5" green BH. Head into the thickest kelp you can find then drop, retrieve, move, repeat.

I've had recent luck with a weedless jig head and big hammer swimbait. Now if they were only larger..

Salt water BASS
Personally I love the rubble reefs around Gonzaga for Spotties, and it is hard to beat Asuncion for lunker Calicos. What are YOUR favorite areas for them? Any favorite lures? Tight Lines.

I rarely fish for Calicos and the only method I really enjoy is throwing the surface iron at them. When the kelp is pulled down just a few feet you can get an iron way back over the kelp. Bird shit tady 45 or C have been best for me. Waxwings are good too cause the up facing double skims over the kelp. Mike
