Lake Havasu

Alright while those who spend their time arguing conversations on the general forum I'll post a fishing report . By the way I met my wife several years ago while in a boxing ring so careful with the girl fight stuff

We spent the last few days on a family trip to Lake Havesu and got stoked on a first come lake front camping site.

Our campsite had lake access where we could fish right from the shore:

Beautiful kayaking on this lake with many good bass fishing holes

My brother and laws first time on a kayak and first time fishing. Couldn't get him to catch a fish but he was loving being on the water

As hank William Jr. said,
"And we can skin a buck we can run a trotline, I can plow a field all day long I can catch catfish from dusk till dawn"

This one was a good sized cat

Chef at work

Blackened catfish by a campfire, can't beat it!

Yeah I like my potatoes and veggies too

Got the coals going for dutch oven lovin dessert, sorry no pictures

Great times with family . Have many honeydo's this weekend and running the Carlsbad marathon but hope to get out fishing Sunday afternoon. Might mean missing NFL playoffs.

Looks like a great time. The weather looks great too. What was the name of the campsite? Thanks for sharing.

Redsled - we stayed at Lake Havasu State Park Windsor Beach. We checked out some other sites on our way in but this was the only water front one we could find. I think we lucked out since only about 5 sites at that campground are on the water and there are no reservations.

mtnbykr2 - Didn't see any marks for striper. Lots of good large mouth bass habitats.

This was my 1st time in Lake Havasu, actually I would have liked to fish in the river but time didn't permit. We were visiting family from Las Vegas so really it was more of a visiting trip with some time for fishing.

Ok. It looks like the weather cooperated with you. Last time I was there we got blown out by the wind and 4 foot close frequency waves. Not a fun experience. We did manage catch small stripers though.

Great report! Nice Largemouth!

I've been thinking of making a trip like that but what I really want to do is paddle down the river below Blythe down to Imperial dam. Fishing and camping that stretch should be a blast.

Looking at the pics I was thinking about the wind. One advantage of being on the river is the canyon walls block the wind and there's no room because of the width of the river to form the kind of wave action you can get up at the lake.

Looks like a fun trip great that the weather cooperated.

Right on, Joe!

That baby-bump shot's great. Something tells me your new addition to the family might become a fisherman before it's all said and done. Well, with a mother and father that fish the odds are looking good, anyway.

The real question is, will there be anywhere to fish when the kids grow up? That's another story, though. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And thanks for reminding me why I spend so much time fishing saltwater---Catfish are freakin' ugly!
