LJ Record Ling.

My personal best Ling.

Hooked this T-Rex ling last Friday. Head so big you could almost fit your whole head inside his mouth. Did not weigh him but i'm thinking about 12/15 pound or more.

didn't know they grew this big in LJ.

Nice fish!

In my modest fishing experience, I've realized Ling's are difficult to estimate because of their large, 'dinosauraus' head. I'd say you're estimate of 12 to 15 lbs is fairly accurate. Oh wait... here's a "handy-dandy-24lber" you can use for a reference...

It's a shame the picture makes it look so small

Man I wouldn't want to get any body part near those teeth!
Did you get him on bait or a grub jig (my personal favorite for fishing lings)?
Congrats on the "Pig"!

Aaah yes, the old stiff arm shot. I forgot about that one

Did you get that one Mexico or north bay area? in the late 70's the Lingcod
average size in Ensenada Mexico was 25/30 pounds. You don't really see them grow that big anymore.

Or at least I haven't seen them that size lately.
