4/17 a tad late....

Easy launch, easy bait at the pier, mostly all spanish though. Got out off the point in 65 ft of water and tried to drag my mac over the submerged kelp for the seabass, and this guy inhaled it....at 7AM..had to battle the kelp, but never got tangled to the point where I was wondering if he was still there...headed to work where I got this cheesy at work drive way shot of my feeesh.

30# on da nose. with fresh greenies in his belly....fresh hamachi in mine.

Nice fish Dan. Was very fishy that afternoon with birds piled up before the pbers ran over em. Shame this wind is gonna mess it all up again, just when it was looking good.

Unfortunately word of this bite got plastered all over the boaters site, should make for a zoo this weekend.

Way to pick out one of the bigger ones. The wind looked ugly today (from my office).

Awesome fish Dan .

Weather is looking pretty bad, again. I'll join the zoo this weekend like always.

Inspiration! Thanks Dan. I'll at least go check out the launch tomorrow after work, and if the wind isn't competely horrible I'll probably go.

Awesome fish Dan. What do you do with it at work? Freezer available?

One of my problems fishing before work - if I get lucky - I have to drive back to NC to clean/prep my catch then back to Mission Valley to work. Pain in the ass.

I need to figure something out.

I work in a lab so the fish gets packed in ice (from the ice machine) and stored in our walk in cold room...

Of course Dan has to pay off his boss with hamachi for coming in late on a hot bite day.

Nice hefty piece Dan!!!

Today was pretty ugly out there...

Launched early... With low tide and bigger swell, some sets were breaking under the pier light. Only managed 1 micro spanish. As the daylight moved in, found big bait ball in 40ft SW from the Pier and quickly loaded up.

Surprisingly, not too much traffic – 7-8 PBers and that many kayaks.
I heard the guy who's got a report up on BD on the radio...

There was a ton of birds on the outside… Way outside.... Never caught up to them.

Wind kicked up around 9:00 AM… It was a major pain to paddle into the wind + pretty descent downhill current… Took forever to come back.

Water brownish, about 10’ visibility. I was reading 59 – 61 temps…

I managed a couple of pencil cudas and 1 calico.

The swell picked up een more by 11:00AM, so landing was dicey.... Hight tide didn't help. Slid on one and jumped out in 4ft of h2o before the 2nd 2' breaking wave caught up to me… 4 + 2 = got me wet almost up to mu chin... Didn’t roll, but I was wet like I did… lol

Good seeing everyone.
