FF Questions - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

I am doing my research before I make the investment on a fish finder. Undoubetly there are sure to be members of this group that can help.

I am looking in th getting a FF/GPS combo unit- probably a Lowrance.
Are there other makes/models that anyone might recommend? Price and performance are both considerations.

What battery would work best for kayak fishing application to power this unit?

Do most people mount their transducer inside the hull? Is it likely to have a negative affect on the FF perofrmace?

I am paddling a WS Tarpon 140- any recommendations on mounting of the battery? I was thinking somewhere by the seat would be best for weight distribution- but not sure a battery would fit through the 6"diameter hatch. Has anyone added a hatch in the cockpit floor on this type of boat? What were the affects of doing so?

Any input would be helpful.
