You know
reading all the fishing reports from LJ and Alaska (you know who you are)lately is killing me
(first yellow, personal best, double hook ups, multiple fish)
The "voices in my head" are saying go go go
My time will come

But you know what is REALLY killing me
the lack of guys committed to the SEPT. 10th. meeting

We have 21 guys on the list at Baytubers
Deduct a couple from that (Chris and Shaggy...)
and we have a pitiful 18-19 guys???

How many here?

All we have to offer are our
Time, Talents or Treasure
What are you putting up?

Thanks to the guys pushing the meetings.
Thanks to the guys working behind the scenes.
Thanks to the guys donating $.
Thanks to the guys attending who dont post.
Thanks to the guys who will make this their FIRST meeting.

Fug the rest of you

This meeting is in LA, I know thats a long drive for many of you
Just pretend you live in LA and are making the long drive to a hot bite at LJ,

It's my wife's birthday but I'll be there.

It's either face the wrath at home for a day, or regret for a lifetime that I didn't do all I could.

Part of me is sick of dealing with this nonsense, part of me wants to truly express my thoughts in the 30-second time span of 'extensive public input', and part of me knows this is for the sake of future generations...

I'll be there.

Well Gents, I put in my request for the day off. We'll see how that goes, I dont see any reason why I wont be able to show up and support. I dont see myself speaking but hopefully my "menacing" presence will help.

btw, I am sure you are joking, but put on a smile while at the meeting. We need to maintain professionalism, albeit, very difficult once you view the circus for the first time.

thanks again... and....

Get in on the action! Attend the awareness event this weekend and join in the caravan of trucks and boats on trailers with posters and banners as we Join in with your yak on your vehicle! We all need to be a part of this!

Check out the link for info and post on the thread below that you will be there:

http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/ma...ml#post1467282

Is that clear enough?

The MLPA process is almost over and it’s not looking good for the fisherman by ANY measure. TO BE CLEAR, if you are a fishermen this IS going to change where you fish and what you catch for the WORSE. This WILL put landings, tackle stores, marinas and charter boats out business. This WILL take jobs from honest, hardworking people who do what they love for a living.

What can you do?

There are two more KEY dates left in this battle. It’s NOT too late. YOU can still make a difference.

We need YOU. YES YOU! Plain and simple we need BODIES to win this battle.

The first event you can attend is your local AWARENESS RALLY. There are currently three of these organized for this Saturday September 5, 2009. PLEASE come out and bring your trailer boat, kayak, etc. with you for a PEACEFULL drive around your local Marinas and Launch Areas. There will be flyers, stickers and banners available to dress your vehicles up for the rally. PLEASE make every effort to attend and GET YOUR BUDDIES involved.

Here are links to the events:

San Diego -
http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/ma...-5-2009-a.html (San Diego area MLPA "Awareness Event" Sat. Sept 5, 2009)

Meet at South Shores Boat Launch at 9 am. We will leave at 10 am, hit Dana Landing and Shelter Island along the way and return to South Shores for a BBQ/Potluck. Caravan Leaders: Maggie aka Nunyabizness1 and Mike aka Mikeylikesit

Orange County –
http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/ma...-sept-5th.html (Orange County MLPA "Awareness Event" Sept. 5TH)

Meet at Glenn's Tackle Shop parking lot - 1145 Baker Street, Costa Mesa at 9:00 am and leave by 10 am sharp. Caravan Leaders: Bobby Gowin and Paul Romanowski

Los Angeles –
http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/ma...ember-5-a.html (Los Angeles Area MLPA "Awareness Event" September 5)

Meet at the Belmont Shores Pool Parking Lot, Belmont, CA at 9:30 am. We will leave at 10 am sharp and end the caravan event at Marina Del Rey Boat Launch for a BBQ/Potluck event! Caravan Leader: Dean Morrow aka Bank Robber

Please visit this thread to sign up for the potluck by location: http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/fi...ml#post1467092 (MLPA Event--TAILGATERS)

These Rallys are all to raise awareness for the LAST PUBLIC MLPA MEETING on September 10, 2009 . IF YOU ONLY DO ONE THING for the MLPA battle, PLEASE BE AT THIS MEETING.

Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles
6101 W. Century Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90045

If you would like to learn more about the MLPA Process, please see www.YesFishing.org

If you would like to discuss the MLPA and get up to the minute news, please see Marine Life Protection Act Initiative (MLPA) -

I know a lot of you are BURNT on the MLPA issue (myself included!) but this is the final stretch and we need one last push! The awesome angler turn out at the Santa Ana meetings truly made an impact. It’s time to make ourselves seen and heard AGAIN.

Thanks very much for your support.

Hi, this is my first post. I have been browsing the forums for sometime now. I don't even have a kayak yet, but I fish every other day in the Dana Point harbor.

Anyway.. Does a blue SMCA spot mean we can still fish in that area? Or..

Thanks.

Please attend this meeting on the 10th, and you will meet a lot people there to answer your questions. It is never too late to get started in this process, hope to see you there.

  5. preserve outstanding or unique geological features; or
  6. provide for sustainable living marine resource harvest.
Restrictions [36710(c) PRC]: it is unlawful to injure, damage, take or posses any specified living, geological or cultural marine resources for certain commercial, recreational, or a combination of commercial and recreational purposes. Wow.. so I guess blue means no fishing as well. When they say Dana Point, I wonder if this would include the harbor too.

I will be there to help fight this.. I guess I will hold off on buying a kayak for now. No point in buying one if I cant even go out and fish in it.

You can bet the MLPA's are going to pass. These rich people who want this to pass have probably never spent anytime fishing or diving and can really care less about the economy or the hobbie.

bump.

Blue does not always mean no fishing. Every blue zone is different. Some allow all take of finfish for recreational anglers.
