Met up with User45 and Primosurf. Was on water by 7, hit the bait barge for a bit... Lots of bait but nothing hitting. Went out rock fishing. Concentrated around 185'. There were 6+ of us out there fishing from yaks. It was slow for all of us. Did manage one nice red. Also landed a fish I have no idea what it was. Looked like maybe a bass but smaller mouth and had a number of funky jagged lateral lines. Wasn't 14 so I tossed back... Didn't want to chance it if it was a hybrid. Good talking to Primo and 45... quality guys. No one got skunked but no one killed it either. The three of us were back in by 11am.

Not a kelpfish. It was lighter with these kind of lateral lines... Nothing vertical. I have looked at my book and pics and can't find anything like it.

Did it look like this? I'm trying to figure out what could have been that deep that looked like a bass.
