8/19 LJ AM

Launched at 0400, along with others. Waves < 1 ft, water temp 68 green, slight wind out of the NW. Slim pickin's at the pier, without the assistance of the flood. Took 3 and headed north, then west to the point. Lots of bait being pushed up, with bonito under them (because Kurt got one..). Lost the bigger of the greenies to a seal. Tossed, and yo-yoed. Decided to hook up a hali rig. Sent it down, and hooked up 5 minutes later. 50ft of water, North of the hotel, on the 1/0 circle... 25lbs, 38"
Thanks again Kurt for the otw shot..

Highly quality fish, Dennis. That is fast paced halibut fishing, only waiting 5 minutes to get picked up.

You'll have to wear your tennis whites from now on so the fish shows up better.

Congrats again on a nice fish!
I went out around the corner into deeper water for a whole lot of nothing. Drifted way south. Coming back in I saw some nice bait balls in deeper water and picked up a ling cod that was to close to risk keeping. Put my last bait on my low rig and drop it down too the bottom. Start to paddle in and the clicker zings a little. Pick up the rod and nothing there. Start to paddle again and the clicker zings again. Pick up the rod again and slooooooooowly start reeling in. The rod starts to load up. Let him eat, starts to take line, starts really taking line, spins the kayak around, and spits out the bait. I don't think I like the circle hooks for bottom fishing. Thin deep slashes in my bait make me think white seabass.

This was from last Friday, when even out-of-staters were getting the YT.

Good to see you back in town, Greg.

I know, huh.. . I just got used to wearing that damn splash jacket. I was actually looking for a neon green shirt... It matches my eyes.
That yellow was caught on the fly, no. That must have been fun.
Thanks again, Kurt.

Beautiful flat one. You've been nailing some quality fish lately. Congratulations.
