I might as well sell the yak...

if i keep getting fish like this from shore...

52", 41.1lbs Cobia from the sand..

not too much of a fight on a 12/0 and 80lb mono, but dang does it taste good!

That's killer! I dunno about selling the yak, but I dunno if I would get off the shore either! All you need is a lawn chair, bamboo umbrella, and a bucket of Coronas and lime, along with the Florida white sands and clear water you would pretty much be living up their commercials!

Nice Ling

We used to get those in TX off the oil rigs in the Gulf. Those things are bruisers. Very similar to Halibut in the way they come up green and go nuts on the gaff and on the deck. One of the best eating fish out there, a real trophy.

Congrats on a beauty.

Solid cobia! With that heavy setup I suspect you were targeting sharks?. Cobia can be found close to shore and far offshore. I have stalked those fish from Alabama shoreline on into Fla. Mostly sight fishing and casting freshwater eels from a 40' tower.(now thats a challenge). They kinda fight like Yt but once boatside a heavy duty gaff is essential!! Great fish from shore and happy eating

... Really nice fish from shore you have there. The FL coastline is great for fishing in general -to be sure.

HOWEVER.... get on your yak and head for the rigs, bridge piling, etc... There are some real leviathans that you can catch on that polyethylene boat you have there.
Have a great time from ship to shore, and keep the reports coming.

I wasn't serious about selling it. we don't have bridges or oil rigs here though. just a lot of emerald colored water. the kings have moved in and the Jack Crevelle are also showing, so i am definitely going to get out and get on some 40lb class jacks.

I miss fishing Jax beach. Have you caught any kings yet? I used to catch huge redfish, sure brings back the memories!
