Heads Up! Doheney Camping Sept 14th

Reservations for Sept just opened up at 8 am today. I have booked the group site. This is tents only, up to 40 people and 10 vehicles......Why?

We are in the process of coordinating a Heroes on the Water event. Tournament, BBQ, fellowship and fundraiser.

You may want to book your own site if you have an RV, as they fill up quickly.

Group site cost $300 and I will be figuring a breakdown cost to stay in that site as low as $7.50 per person.

Details will follow. We are just starting to coordinate this with the Launch ramp as that is where we will be holding this event, camping is just an extra option.

Not sure about the camping thing, but I'm up for the fishing, I have an extra kayak I can bring too.

San Diego Chapter?

Not sure if I would be able to make that outing but I am HIGHLY interested in learning more about this organization and how I can help.

Can you (or CJ as he is listed as Point Man for SoCal) post more information? I know a few Wounded Warriors in the San Diego area that could benefit from this.

Thanks.

"You may want to book your own site if you have an RV, as they fill up quickly."

those sites fill up by 8:05 am.

Nice score. I'll be around to help this year.

Shoots, should have got the word out yesterday, I was poised with my finger on the button at 8am sharp.............well I have room for 40.

I am betting the support for this event will be outstanding. CJ and I will be hammering out all the details next week, since we will be hanging out together in the booth at Fred Hall for 5 days!

Count me in with 2 complete kayak setups. If the fishing is only going to be 1 day I don't need to take up one of the camping spots.

We may end up with more volunteers than vets for this event! Thanks for working on this with CJ. I'll be with HOW at your booth on Fri & Sat, looking forward to seeing this one come together.

And in case you already need a camping head count, I'll be there for sure

I work out on the Island, and have access to ALOT of kayaks. Just about every command out there has an arsenal of them stacked behind their spaces. I will inquire different Commands about the use of their yaks as well as my own. ICEMAN pm me to the best of your knowledge the 5 W's on this event before Monday so I have something to go off of when asking for the equipment. I might be out the door during this event but I can put you in contact with right people if that's the case.

Dorf, Gonna send you a PM about HOW in Socal so we can reach these folks.

For the rest of you, Andy and I will hammer it out however this 9/15 Event is planned to be more of a Benefit Tournament than a Vet Event. We really would love to see this event raise some money for HOW the way that Moyer always did for ACS (hence the same time of year as the past Moyer Events). I have no doubt thats ome of our more regular Vets will want to fish this event however not looking at making it a regular HOW event as much as a benefit (we try to keep the Vet Events a little more Low-key due to nature of a lot of the OIF/OEF vets injuries and all).

Looking forward to seeing you all at the tournament and all. We would love to see as many faces as we can out there supporting the program and out nations true heroes.
