Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournaments - Sailfish Smackdown 2022 Results

2022 #EKFT #sailfishsmackdown! Results:

This tournament was definitely the coldest 🥶 EKFT has seen. Anglers ended up going 2 for 11 on sailfish.
The nice surprise was a bunch of quality Mahi Mahi that saw the scale with the largest being 19.1lbs. It was amazing to see so many out-of-state anglers this year, we appreciate you all.

🏆Winners:
.
💰First: Brian Nelli, $5,000.00 from RAILBLAZA & Turbo USA 🇺🇸. Custom Sailfish Smackdown rod made by Powercore Rods LLC
.
💰Second: Brian Arnold, $2,000.00 from Nautical Ventures & PROYAKER fish bag
.
💰”Nautical Ventures” $500.00 Mahi Mahi Division: @Roy Moncada, 19.1lb’s

Too bad someone else did not land a Sailfish, Third place would have pocketed $1000. I did not hear anything about a Kingfish Calcutta winner, so I guess they did not have one this year or maybe nobody caught one, it has been super slow fishing lately.

With temps below 40 degrees at sunrise, 4.6ft 8second Swell and 14-21kt winds forecasted for 8 am, I opted not to partake in the 2022 Smackdown. Congratulations to those that did, and to all the winners.

Brave souls! Congrats to everyone who competed. Getting out on the water in those conditions is impressive.

Two of the nicest Mahi that I have seen taken off a kayak in years. Ones like that are usually a Spring or Fall catch.
