I'm in the same boat as you. California fish are different than Hawaii fish. I'd say better by a long shot. Good job on the spotty. What did you catch him on?

Try some Z Man elaZtec paddler Z in Pearl or Copper Penny and they can be rigged using a weedless head if you want to not get stuck in the eel grass. Also helps to use a scent UniButter is a local product that works really well.
