Saw last week that Turners' Kearney Mesa store had Shimano rods, clarus, crucial, and compre on clearance for 40% off. Might want to check on that.

You might consider a Shimano Terremar... take a look on the Bloodydecks.com classifieds. They sell used for a lot less than new and they are excellent rods. The only thing better would be a rod built on a Rainshadow or North Fork Composite blank.

No sales at my local Turners. I did check out the Shimano Black rods (Clarus etc...) They look pretty sharp but I like the feel of the Lamiglass better. What really liked there was the action on the Garcia Veritas. Nice and tippy.

I have a Curado 300 on Shimano Crucial 7-11 that I have landed a 30 pound YT, video posted by the darkhorse and when I'm bassin I have thrown an 8oz Huddleston swim bait with this combo. This is a sweet combination and I paid for the rod $ 99. The Crucial has the backbone for heavy lifting and just the right amount of action to keep it from feeling stiff. I run 60# spectra and according leaders for what I'm fishing.
