I make a short cast let it hit the bottom then BURN IT 20-30 cranks depending on where my marks are. Immediately throw it into freespool, let it hit again and repeat. I usually get 3 yoyo's per cast. My last retrieve is when the iron is straight down from the boat.

If you let it sit on the bottom your going to catch a lot of rockfish and Salmon Grouper. You will NEVER out crank a yellowtail.
