Trailer option
Hello Dan,
I picked up a late model used jet ski trailer from Craigslist for $450 and it hauls my PA 14 around nicely. I adjusted the bunks on the trailer a little bit and I'm able to leave the yak stored on it full time with no problem. I store the whole thing outside with a reflective tarp over the top and it does fine. If you are patient you can probably find a better deal on a trailer than I did. Good luck Chris |

I didn't really "modify" the trailer. The bunks are secured with large u-bolts which can be loosened and moved around easily. Those Harbor Freight trailers are less expensive but aren't built as well as a purpose built jet-ski trailer- no where near as durable and will not retain their value as well either. There are a few guys here in San Diego that buy jet skis and ship them overseas in quantity for resale. They end up with extra trailers that they sell on Craigs. Chris |

There is also a bed extender(T-bone) that you could buy at Fastlane. I use it for my PA with my Highlander. It is very easy to use-- put the seats down and slide it in. If it is something your are interested in I will load it up and take a pic for you tonight.

Hang in there, Dan. Once you catch a giant fish out of your boat, it'll make a lot of that pain and trouble all worthwhile!!!
Might be good trying to use it a couple more times to see if you can come up with an adequate and reasonable solution to these issues you're concerned about. |

$189.00 = 9% tax = $206.01 + the over weight freight $50.00 = $256.01 Could I leave the kayak stored on the trailer in the upright position with out deforming it's hull? Thule has a "Glide and set 883" for about $200. I would also need to install a tow bar and a hitch for about another $200. Were talking over $650.00 here. I was at Harbor Freight checking their trailers out about 3 - 4 weeks ago. Thank you for the suggestion. Hmmmm. Last edited by SP Dan; 07-22-2014 at 08:01 PM. |
