I was salmon fishing on the Klickitat River wearing neoprene waders and yard sale'd the kayak into forty two degree water. I was not wearing a belt and the waders instantly filled with water. It was very difficult to flip the kayak and get back in.
I can say from direct first hand experience, if you wear waders in a kayak, wear a belt.
