I have witnessed this quite a few times. Twice we actually recovered rods when other passengers caught the dropped rods lines. My favorite was one time on a charter on the Chubasco II we had a guy no shit lose 3 rods, all custom wrapped with Trinidad's. The kicker is that none of them were his, they belonged to a buddy who was on that trip with him. True story, one of the craziest, stupidest things that ever happened when I worked on that boat.
