I don't think you need a top shot that long. 3-5 feet is fine and the shorter top shot/leader lets you change quickly and cheaply from 10lb in the bay to 30lb in the kelp. I keep my leaders short for this reason plus I don't like casting a knot through the guides. Great score or a great super versitile out fit. Mike

![]() I have 55lb spectra I can back it with instead. I have 30lb flouro I'll use around the kelp for now, I'll pick up some 12 for in the bay. On fishing this rig for halibut is the idea a grub or a swim bait and cast it out and bounce it along the bottom on the way back? Having no clicker on it means it's. Of really a live bait reel unless I were to like Carolina it and drift with it in my hands right? Thanks a lot for the info! |
