3/14 - Dana Point

Got a bit of a late start, but was out on the water by 9:30am. The wind had already picked up, but overall it was a nice day. Picked up some bait.. the sardines were a perfect size. I then headed out to the Doheny Beach area in search for some Halibut. On the way out there was a group of about 5 yak fishermen who I see quite often. One of the guys said none of them caught anything good.. but only a shark. Seemed hard to believe.. o well.

So after about 10 minutes of dragging around a sardine.. I landed a short halibut:

And then a baby sandy:

Sand Bass

and a decent size spotty:

Spotted Bay Bass

The Yak

Overall it was a wonderful day to be out on the water.. I just wish that there were less guys on Jet Ski's..
