La Jolla June 1st

I ditched work and got out on the water at 6. It was pretty calm and the launch was an Easy day. I had a slow go making bait on the north edge of the Kelp. I caught 3 small slime sticks and 3 short Calicos there on sabiki & Kroc combo. I did better moving off to the outside western edge. The bigger green Macs were on there.

I Metered some fish out in about 120-130ft of water and tried the iron while soaking a big Mac but only got bit hard once by a Blue shark.

That SOB went through my 30lb flouro leader like a hot knife through butter. I got him near enough to the PA to see color then nothing. A minute later he came up and swam beside me with the leader hanging out of his mouth...like he was giving me a one finger salute.

I kept my radio on scan and kept an eye out on the others on yaks and in boats all day, it looked like it was slow for all of us.

Oh well any day fishing and being on the water is better than a day at work

There's supposed be another low pressure system coming in the next few days so I'll try to get back on the water tomorrow and work some different spots I have saved in my GPS and hopefully I'll do better.
