5/19 SD Bay / Mixed bag and PB yak flattie

Met up with Sherm after work down at SI. Launched the yaks at about 4:00 pm. Tide was coming in nicely as we made our way over to a new spot to try our luck. Caught a fiesty slimer on the way on a rapala.

Got to the spot and brought in a short flattie. Next feesh was a sandie, then a 21" flattie. Next was a few spotties and another short flattie. Next was a double with a short hali & a slimer. I said to Scott that there just HAS to be a big flattie down there somewhere............

Was casting out my top rig when I felt my bottom rig go "doink doink" then heard the reel sing. Knew it was a decent sized flattie. Was way fun bringing him up to yak side. Got him in the net on the 1st try. Measured right at 30", my new personal best halibut caught from a kayak.

Contined feeshin that same spot for a few more reeeeeealy close flatties and some more bass. Called it a night at dusk around 8:00 pm.

Counts for me were:
7 flatties
6 spotties
3 sandies
2 cuda
couple macs

All fish C&R'ed................EXCEPT the 30" flattie. Just got done filleting that bad boy .

Another fine afternoon of fishing with my bro. Incoming tide, only a slight breeze, nice & warm, and lots of fresh feesh for dinner.

Peace,

Spyder

Great report. Love the detailed counts. Boy, makes me feel inadequate. Did you mean 5/20? Sherm mentioned going out after work on Tuesday. Now I really wish I could have made it. I was out on MB today and picked up and released 8 small spotties. Fun, but getting a mixed bag is funner. WTG.
