to leash or not to leash paddle in surf?
All,
I have heard that leashing the paddle when surf launching is a bad idea...is this because of the fear of the leash wrapping around you in a dump? |

I do not leash launching or landing, for the reasons you describe.

I personally don't but you can if you want to
just use a short leash and tie it to your life jacket not the kayak |

i once saw a guy who landed with a leashed paddle.
when he dumped in the surf, he let go. one paddle blade dug in the sand, the leash point acted as a pivot, and the other blade smacked him in the ribs. /bing |
