LJ Oct.31

Got a late start getting to the launch around 10:30. A little overcast but all in all a nice day with ankle slapping surf.
I though there was some kind of conspiracy sense I wasn't seeing any fish reports for L J. Now I know the answer. There was only one other kayaker out there besides my self.
I was happy my new fish finder was working like a charm, and the sea was full of life. The seals were everywhere, lots of gray looking big dolphins, and bait everywhere.
The current was ripping south and towards afternoon a light SW breeze was blowing, If I stopped paddling for long, I could of ended up off point Loma.
The birds were following the seals and dolphins, but around 1:00 their activity changed and you could tell their on a fast moving school of fish. I tried to catch up but was always a 100 yards off(note to self: buy 10ft jig pole). I saw one of the two PB's hook up and land a huge yellowtail. They were popping up here and there for an hour, then no sign. They seemed to be in an area 150 ft deep out there a ways. MY score for the day; one mack on the yo yo Iron.

I fish tell dust. I should of came in where the current wasn't so bad and did some bottom fishing. Paddling in through the kelp the bait was jumping for its life every where. I make a few cast with iron and got my mack. It was probably what was chasing all that bait. But lots of activity there. I was burnt after fighting that current all day and chasing fish.

Yeah the current was pulling south pretty hard.... I was having to peddle back to my point after ever cast and peddle just to slow down my drift. At least it was flat and the weather was nice
