12/28 no fish report

Decided to go out on Wednesday since it will probably be a while before the next outing - just too dang cold now.

Saw a swimmer out past the yellow bouys:

Since I thought it was a bit odd to see her out this far I followed and finally got her to stop. She realized where she was and told me she doesn't swim straight. You never know, she may have been so cold and becoming disoriented due to hypothermia. She seemed ok - told me she was swimming for the yellow bouy.

Was using a drop shot with Trigger-X - got nothing - trolled a big Kroc and got:

and another of a smaller size.

That was it.
Almost rolled it coming in. I was completely parallel to the beach riding in a wave - might right ear and shoulder were getting wet leaning into the wave, but I never flipped - too bad no one caught it on video - not sure how I didn't flip.

Time to order a new license.

This is the track for that day:

That's a smelt,

and you can get the burlap sacks at squidco for a $1 or 2.

Conditions have been rough the last couple weeks with only narrow windows to fish....I thought today would be fishable but 42degrees, 10-12kt offshores and 4-5ft windswell no thanks, although this afternoon and tomorrow look nice

I got the burlap material from Home Depot, cut it to size, used fishing line to thread it and make my own. Yes, SquidCo has them for $1, I didn't want to make a separate trip and wanted a bag...now!!

Strange...

The drop-shot with Trigger-X has been the hot ticket in La Jolla all season. Speaking of, I should hit up Turners since I'm clean out of them. Better luck next time.
