Newport 6/9

Bought new fish finder (Lowrence Hook-4 CHIRP) last week and eager to check it out so I launched CGS at 6:30 AM
Water Temp was 64-65 pretty clean, light wind but kinda big swell
Plan was pass jetty, try to find some rock fish but had to give up because big swell
Throw some hook bait no bass but halibut was up and bite middle of water so I thought halibut is hungry ,so all day tried to catch halibut but only hooked several short ones
Outside of harbor kelp bed is pretty wide and thick but no fishes around I guess
My new Hook-4 is working great way better than my old one
Harbor police checking everybody license and fish ,saw young guy got ticket for short halibut ....
