Reel restoration, overhaul, retrofit

Not meaning to step on anyone foot or anything, I did a search and just seeking what the market has to offer of whom you typically send your tackles to.

Who do you guys on the boards send your reels to have them restore the scuff marks on your bait caster, convention reel, spinning reel, and fly reel?

Any of you send it to be customize, laser engrave, painted, powder coat, and anodized?

Anybody send them to be retrofit for salt water fishing and corrosion resistance?

Has anybody did a mechanical upgrade/retrofit for heavier drag? Faster retrieval? etc. etc...

As for as typical maintenance I know several tackle shops and actually manufacture like shimano, daiwa does this.

I for one drop off my reels to sav-on tackle or maintenance them myself once I have time. I haven't yet send any reels for restoration or any custom work.

I cuztomize them myself with hard use. Gives character and is as personalized as it gets.

For general service i do most myself or occasionally a friend, squidco, or kens custom reels.

+1. Little rash don't hurt. Learn to service yourself. It's pretty easy once you get the basics down. Always have a system of organization when taking a reel appart for easy assembly.

I once saw an ad…"scars are tattoos with better stories"…
With that said, CJ, I love your mentality. You sir have your priorities straight!
I currently have my reel in another BWE members possession. Avet MXJ.
We never discussed cost. I already know that i pay for any parts that need to be replaced. I mean, duh.
In my eyes, I owe him a 12 pack of Ballast Point. Of course I enjoy a few with him as he brings me up to speed on what he found internally.
He's a wizard, I'm a friend with a task.
Replace broken internals, regrease the mojo, and I'm back in the ring.

Engrave a reel? Never even heard of that. Custom rods? Yup. Reels? Nope.
Perhaps you're a pioneer? Perhaps I'm an ass? Either way…kill fish..have fun.

Thanks guys for the insight on where to continue looking. That alan tani forum has a great deal of knowledge for reels repair and all sorts of model.

Yup powder coat the reel. check this out!

beautiful reel customize.. why just to add "your personal touch and differentiate from the norms"

Also, i'm really looking into this repair, custom, and retrofit as the next hobby since I spent enough time testing, assembling, and custom fabrication more advance and more precision products.
