WCW 08-09 Recap

Twenty Seven Entered this past season. The idea was to weigh in your 2 biggest of each of the 3 eligible species for 6 total. None of those entered weighed in all 6 allowable fish. Jasmin bested the pack and had jaws dropping on more than one occasion. Early on he picked up the moniker "The King of La Jolla" and held on to that given title right to the end. He was the only one who broke the 40 pound mark on all 3 species. Esdees narrowly kept the biggest white seabass from Jasmin by 2/10 of a pound. Jasmin did secure the biggest halibut, beating out Madscientist's twin barn door by a mere 1/0 of a pound! Baja760 was the only entry to step beyond the 50 pound mark and surprisingly not with a white seabass but with a yellowtail that weighed 52 pounds! This even bested Tyler's jackpot winning 45.8 pound yellowtail, no small feat!

West Coast Whoppers is the Real Deal where the angler who wins is truly the one who wanted it more than all of the rest. It's original intention was to make every time the line started slipping away to be that much more exciting. It is about cheering on those who pass you by and about hoping for your shot to "one up" the other guy. Congratulations to Jasmin and to all those WEST Coast Whoppers that were landed. It is all about commaradarie and community. Every season has seen changes in the rules and 2010 we are doing it again!
