The person interviewed for this story said that the large number of stingray injuries was not "unprecedented". Maybe so but in the four years that I was a lifeguard at the Shores and Blacks, the most stings we ever had to deal with in a single day about five, and that was unusual. More than 35 were reported yesterday. That is a big number.

For those worried about stepping on a stingray, the best thing you can do is shuffle your feet while walking in shallow water. The injuries occur when you step on one of these rays. If you bump into them, they will quickly swim away.
