A big ball of greenback mackerel, just outside of the reserve, and we had a dozen good baits. Kept at it until we had about 15 baits each, with slightly more spanish mackerel than greenies.

Seems like we need adversity. We can't tell you of all the "Murphy's Law" incidences that ended up yielding us fish to lead to a good trip. Today was the same as last Sunday, storms not predicted. We were rained on most of the day, when the possible storm wasn't supposed to move in until 11:00PM. A downright downpour at one point, stronger than last Sunday. No lightening, thunder and the wind was nice to us. A strong downhill current going though.

As often, the dolphins gave us the show we love. A pod of 50 or more early morning, with a couple of smaller showings later.

Anyways, back to fishing. Same as always, troll live mackerel behind our kayaks, one with a 2oz. torpedo sinker, the other fly-lined. After much rain, a slight dry spell from the rain, Julie's bit. 20 minutes of wonderful labor, and she gaffs her own 19lb yellowtail.

After that, Murphy took over. Aaron hoping to not be disgraced with the big skunk, loses 5 perfect greenies in a row. An aggresive cormorant whacked the s%#^t out of one, then latched onto the other taking it off the hook.
Sea- Lions, which were somewhat of a problem this day, stole a few, took the next 2 greenies. The fifth was a bonehead move on his part. Letting out that greenie in freespool too long it found the bull kelp below, and also was lost.

Long story, long. Eventually Murphy took a break. Aaron is bit. The yellow goes into the bull kelp, making the fight twice as hard. A little while later, Aaron sinks the gaff in his 11lb. yellow.

So nice, we both had bendos, and go home with a double. Life is good.

Congratulations on the family double. That.s dedication!!
