Beware the hum

I have had the humming strap actually cut into my OB. It never made it all the way through but it has cut curls of plastic like an electric fillet knife. Put the twist as mentioned above.

It's a bias against Left-Handed people.

These kayaks were made for right-handed people. They can do a simple task (steering) with their left hand while the right hand is used for more important things like holding your pole, drinking your...

Halibut

Bait is the straight line across the bottom with a halibut coming up to play with it.... Maybe?

Sad news indeed

I had no idea of his name, and I certainly thought he was decades younger than what you are reporting. I met that very nice gentleman probably half a dozen times outside Mission bay in the last year...

Thanks!

Great story! Even if you come back empty handed, which you did not, you got some memories from that trip! Thanks for sharing.

Wink Soo....

Are you saying that maybe you are not the "Apex Predator", or maybe you share the distinction with the animals that kill for a living? Just friendly ribbing.

Nice!

Good to see a report. Either fishing has been real slow or the good ol' boys don't want to report for fear of the madding crowds.
Hope the water stays warm long enough for me to get one this year.

Another thought

Instead of hardening, start with spring steel. I think I like the other gent's idea of a fiberglass or carbon insert though.

Great report

You get an A- for short story. Pics would have bumped it up. Looks like the surf is still up today. I'm bummed because it will probably be 3 weeks before I can go out again...Hopefully the bite will...

Coordinates

I caught that sheep head right by the man overboard symbol on my fish finder.
I was reading that they can get over 30 lbs. I’d like to at least get one over 10.

I caught a 5.8 lb sheep head the other day and while cleaning it, discovered a curious feature not noticed before. In...

Limited visibility

If a feller was handy with a drone he could use it to look for kelp paddies and then paddle out to them. That would not be me, because I'm more of a minimalist....Bait tube instead of tank, etc.

On a positive note

The kelp dying off will break away and make kelp paddies to attract yellows and
mahi. Maybe it is time to "use a lifeline" and "ask a friend" (one that has a boat).

Nice!

Looks like you have spent a lot of time creating those lures. Beautiful, and it will be a bonus if they work!

That must be it.

I did load something from DFG, I just didn't realize it overlaid onto Google Earth.

MPAs

I used to use FishAlerts app to see the MPAs but they are not available anymore. I just found out that Google Earth shows the MPAs now. Good to know if the fog obscures the flag pole at LJ, or other...
