I got my net last year at the Fred Hall show. It is a Promar collapsible type sow it stores small. I think it was only about $20. I think DFG regs say min. 18 inch opening, but have never seen anyone check it. Get the type with the small holes for better fish releases.

I use this net. Love it, works great, folds up so it is easy to travel with. Congrats on getting your Yak!

thanks for the link...... ya never know - i'll check the mega millions ticket and see if a trip is coming!

i am enjoying the forum and learning a lot about pacific salt water. i was born and raised in michigan's up and transplanted myself here in northern virginia. it has been tough to be so far away from brookies and muskys! but i love water and have been enjoying learning the new area. i am hoping all the gadets i put together will give me a slight advantage over the old town 135xl i have been fishing from for the past years.

I had one of those nice folding nets until my daughter thought it would float. I was short on funds so i picked up a cheapy at sports Atority and cut the handle down to fit a kayak. It's a pain because it takes up too much space and hooks really like to get tangle in it. I rarely use it and hardly ever take it to LJ. I try to cover my bases, legally wise, because the DFG can write you a ticket for not having a net. If you have any fish with a minimum size on your boat and don't have a net you can get a ticket. That would suck getting written up for a 20 lb halibut becasue you didn't have your net. Mike
