Bio on Leo

Hey Wade,

Leo is a cool guy from caracas, venezuela,
where he has been fishing since childhood.

They have Bonefish in the shallows, Tarpin and
Snook in the bays and estuaries and Wahoos
just offshore. Although coastal fishing has
great potential, Leo says the coastal wind
are 20-40mph, non stop all year. Making it
tough to kayak fish.

Venezuela also has fresh water Peocock Bass
fishing. And although Leo's loves to eat
Peocock Bass, his favorite fish food
are Empanadas stuffed with Shark.

Also, Leo's second cousin, President
Hugo Chávez FrÃXas, has turned his
country into a socialist wasteland.

So Leo lives and fishes La Jolla, where he has been
invisible til now. If you see Leo on the
water, say hello.

I have talked with Leo a few times at the launch but haven't been out to LJ in months, he told me he doesn't use a fish finder, he uses his eyes to find fish, haha i guess he changed that up

cool guy and very friendly

Yani, for the record, I am not related to Chavez, that is the biggest insult for a Venezuelan. However, I am a great-great-grandson of a Venezuelan President during the Colonies, Jose Gregorio Monagas.

Hey Leo!

Just kidding about Hugo. But I'm glad you
finally registered and joined. This board
and Kayak4fish.com will give you help, tips,
pointers and lots of friends.

See you on the water.

Leo is a super cool and friendly guy :)
He comes by the store to say hello all the time. In fact he was just here today telling me about this post. He then proceeded to ride his bike back to his place in LJ from the Kearny Mesa store!

You mean the proper way to release a black seabass ISN'T to gaff it five times in the mouth, hang it off a pier, drag it behind a boat, beach it and shove it into the surf?

:cheers1:

RoeBoat 02-26-2010 02:53 PM

Good one. But you left out the step about shoving an arm down its throat trying to get the hook out while it is beached.

Hey Roe Boat, What are you talking about, none swallowed the hook & no gaff, but I can still do something with my arm.

Those remarks weren't aimed at you terrero, we're referencing a video that surfaced a couple weeks ago of a guy completely terrorizing a black seabass before "releasing" its dead body. I guess you missed it...

dfroggy54 03-23-2010 03:43 PM

this is awesome, Leo and Yani were the first people I met fishing LJ. Good fisherman these guys are. Nice BSB

sandydiego 03-24-2010 08:34 AM

Nice treatment of the black sea bass. It shows that we have respect for our fishing grounds.

Rob929 03-24-2010 09:01 AM

Nice Job Leo!

Was nice to meet you at the launch last night. See ya on the water
