LJ Report: 8-21-25

Figured I'd share a report since it's been slow around here. Not much life out there yesterday. Bait was hard to find. Got a few spanish. Small bonito were in the mix too just past the reserve line so I'd suggest a larger grade sabiki. Got 3 on one drop and they tangled up my sabiki pretty good. Water's warm(70-71) and blue around the NW corner. Nice day for a paddle, not a great day for fishing. Better luck next time.

It has been slow on bigwatersedge.com but it hasn't been slow in LJ. LJ has been on fire. I'm surprised there isn't at least 30-40 kayakers out there every day. The yellowtail have been big and willing to bite. Maybe it is a good thing that it has been quiet on BWE.

Exactly. Earlier in August, A San Diego based Extreme Kayak Tournament participant was commenting that the local 3/4 day boat had 135 Yellowtail at LJ, and he was missing the best fishing of the year for the Florida competition. I see posts of :wsb: and :yt: on other social media, but it appears to be taboo to talk of such :reel: here -- sad.
