How long will the YT stick around

Newbie question here. How long will the YT stick around our coast line? I know they are caught all year long, but my question is, how long will they be up at the surface? Are we reaching the end of the season? With as warm as the water has been, will they be here later this year? Or is their migration based more on seasons than water temps?

Depends on the water temps. I'd say by late October they will start dropping deeper. Right now offshore ALOT of paddies are loaded with hundreds/thousands of baby YT about 8" long, this happened last year and we had a great winter of yoyo YT. I've also seen a ton of rat yellows schooling in the local kelps, so hopefully we will have a new batch of homegaurds for the future.

This made me laugh. You have a good point too. It's like they are trying to die lately.

That's what the La Jolla beachgoers call them apparently.

Everything in La Jolla is a Tuna, Shark, Whale, or Seal... and then there's us Evil Fishermen.
