Carry Outback Up&Down Stairs?

Hi, new outback owner here. Thing weighs a ton compared to the old ocean kayak. Anyways, I searched around but couldn't find any reviews.

Have any of you dealt with carrying this thing up and down stairs? I have a cart that I had from the old yak but for stairs it's pretty useless.

Just trying to fish a spot close to home that spits you out right at the kelp patties (in a channel so no waves) as opposed to launching a mile down the beach in closeout shorebreak haha.

Thanks in advance
Bryan

You can Invite me to launch from your spot and I will help you up and down the stairs :) . MY pro angler may be an issue though . In all seriousness though how many stairs are we talking ?

I can barely carry it from my car to my backyard. I woulnt want to kill my back on stairs. Just depends how buff you are

Hahaha seriously, I am the same way. I heard about some shoulder straps but I think the kayak is too wide to be able to use properly.

It's the Carlsbad patties. Fun place to fish with the usual kelp suspects. But it's about 3 sets of 20 stairs.

Easiest way.....pay a buddy in beer :cheers1:
I have the same problem, sucks launching from oside harbor and peddling down all the time. Surf launching is out of the question for me in the PA14.

Launch by the power/desalinization plant. Depending on the swell direction, the jetties can help with waves when launching.

I carry the kayak on my head/back up stairs in Leo carillo. Just place a towel on your head and back and hold on to both handles while balancing the kayak. It's actually pretty easy once you get the kayak on your back. Easier getting up tue stairs than down.

If someone is out with one will take pictures.

You're right, are you talking about the northern jetty in front of the plant? I know during winter warm water jetties (the southern one) gets good for surfing so it isn't too do-able.

I guess I should stop being lazy and throw a wetsuit on and just charge through the surf and peddle a little farther than normal hahaha

I've seen canoe carts that have large wheels. Like bicycle tires. Could that be a possible solution or would that be too bumpy on the stairs?

Just use 2 10' pieces of 2x4. Slide that baby up and down. I do this to launch at my secret spot down the rocks in SD Bay so I don't have to paddle as far.

I would recommend two heaping scoops of whey protein and an extra supplement of glucosamine and chondrotin with some fish oils and a membership to golds gym. Or you can do what I do and fish with a friend and bribe them with beer. Lol

I like using the back pack version only a few ties and your good to go..
