Mexico Visa
 

According to some others in another thread, an Mexico visa is required outside of the "Tourist Zone".

Not that I doubt anyone, but I'll need seme clarification...

I checked online at the Consulate General of Mexico website
http://www.consulmexny.org/eng/visas_fmt_us_canada.htm
and it seems that a visa isn't required...

I'm going to do more research, but anyone who definitively knows, now would be a great

side and San Felipe, on the Sea of Cortez. Sonora state is in the process of extending
it's border zone too. In mainland states along the border, this includes a 16-20 mile

As with all things baja a lot of the info you get is conflicting. In May the guy with the gun said pull over and get one, so we did. I don't know if you can count on the cop pulling you over to know if you should have one or not either. Better just to buy one. It's cheap ~$23, and lasts for 6 months.

Exactly. The consular office, US state department, Mex embassy, and discoverbaja all have different info. I'm not sure anyone actually knows, but the guy with the ammo is usually right. DiscoverBaja is selling them online again, so no more need to find "creative" solutions because of a forgotten passport.:D

The hell with conventional wisdom, I love creative solutions!:D

better safe than sorry... but do you guys really have mex boat permits for your kayaks... just got my first kayak and will be going to poach my wsb dreams soon.

Yep. Better safe than sorry. Get em at Squidco. I tried Dana landing once and they wanted my registration. Uh, right.

Is there a differenc between a tourist card and a visa? I think you just need a tourist card but could be wrong.

I think the tourist card is the same as the tourist visa...

Tourist card/visa/Forma Migratoria Para Turista (FM-T) same thing as far as I know. Yes we all have boat permits. There is conflicting info as to whether these are needed too. Better safe than sorry is the motto for a lot of things in baja.

I've got my boat permit and Mex fishing license. Just need the visa/FMT and a
pocket full of $ for protection...
