stripers?

Is there any freshwater striper fishing here in socal?

I think they plant at one of the otay lakes or something like that in the summer, but I am not sure. I grew up on freshwater, but I have mainly fished salt since I have been stationed here.

Lake Skinner

Hey Andrew. Any lake or resevor that gets its water from the delta or the colorado river will have stripers. They come in as larva or fry and live fine. The nearest lake with stripers is skinner and their are plenty in diamond valley. Mike

Yep any lake connected to the aquaduct will have stripers. Lake Skinner is a good lake for fishing them. Anchovies from shore near the boat ramps can catch some smaller ones and big trout colored rapalas work well in open water, especially by the inlet. It's awesome to see them boiling in the evenings.

I belive that Diamond valley Res. has stripers, but you have to have a sit in kayak no sit on top kayaks allowed.:cheers1:

Thanks everyone, I know we used to fish for them in the lakes back home and I love catching them. I may try to get on them before long.

Lake Silverwood has stripers as well gets a little windy in the afternoons though. Good luck!

lake pyramid.

Head out to the river plenty there. Otherwise DVL and Skinner are good bets. Jennings will hopefully be getting Wipers soon, no kayaks there though.

I've caught freshwater striper from all of the following.
Colorado river
Silverwood lake
Castaic lake
Pyramid lake
Lake Perris
Lake skinner
Lake Nacimento
California aquaduct
Diamond Valley res.

Plus Lake Elsinore has a healthy wiper population.

I'm down for some wiper action. I'm going to be off the water for a couple weeks but after that I am up for a Elsinore paddle

Fishtraker 07-07-2013 04:48 PM

What do yall usually catch them on? Live bait? Repala? And can I paddle my kayak out there?
