big bite!

Guy said he was in 25 feet of water right off the rock. The bite looked like it came from the bottom. Very lucky guy!

deepdvr 11-23-2011 09:18 AM

Damn, those guys have a serious sack fishing there. Ano Nuevo, just a couple miles south, is an extremely sick right hand break that nobody surfs. I wonder why?

Elephant seals are the preferred prey there and funny how the silhouette of a kayak looks about the same sitting in the water.

Good thing he was on an Outback and not a Revo or Adventure.

What are the odds of that happening in LJ....very likely I'd say!

mtnbykr2 11-23-2011 09:24 AM

Whoa...that was too close for comfort, looks like it came from the bottom,
I woulda pooped myself, thank God he is around to tell the story

wiredantz 11-23-2011 09:31 AM

SCARY!!!

addicted2sp33d 11-23-2011 10:00 AM

Glad he's OK. I would have come back to shore immediately for a change of pants.

Imagine if he was filming with a GoPro when it happened! That would have been some epic video.

Nothing like throwing a fat lipper in, when your life was on the line...

The GW attack that happened back in the 50's was right next to the rock at La Jolla Cove. The people standing at the walk by the cove saw and heard the whole thing.

Considering the 25" Greenback I caught yesterday (my personal best) and clean water, I would say you have a very good chance of an up close and personal experience with a Giant Mako or GWS.

That's intense

driftwood 11-23-2011 12:36 PM

That Outback is the same color as a seal. Stay away from that color! :drool5:

yani 11-23-2011 01:06 PM

Driftwood,

I hear Great Whites like bonewhite ProAnglers too.

I'm pretty sure they like Greek food better than Mexican food. BTW, this is the time when more GW sharks are spotted in La Jolla. C-ya tomorrow Yani. I got lots of squid to shum the water. :afraid:
