Prowler Sonar Cover

Looking from help from the group. I just installed my second Hook4 fishfinder. The first one lasted about a year before the plug corroded and became inoperable.

The cover sits too low to see the unit (first pic) so I would go about my day with the cover completely open exposing the unit to saltwater, particularly drips off the paddle. I'd like the cover positioned like the second pic, so it's more protected. But how to hold the lid in position? Suggestions?

Would this work?

^^ Hahaha

What mount do you have it on? You might be able to get an extension like a Scotty 254M or Railblaza Fixed Extender or Adjustable Extender R-Lock. That or shove a drink bottle behind it.

I actually have the same setup with my Garmin Echomap, but elected to not use at area to mount my FF because I like using a ram mount and it already had a track mount Just to the right side on the rail of the kayak.

I also got way more used to having my FF within arm's reach on my outback, and at a much better angle for the sun and my shadow.

I just use that hatch to store my mask/snorkel and weight belt when I dive :D

I'd recommend something akin to a kickstand, maybe a hinged item you could screw into the cover?

It won't corrode so bad if you dielectric grease the connection and never unplug it lol. It's the exposure to air and corrosive materials that gets you!

Popsicle stick with Velcro on both ends.

wedge a pool noodle behind it. And dielectric grease, corrosionX or consistent spraying with wd40 will work

Thanks for all the replies! As it turns out, a Gatorade bottle worked perfectly.

I love a low tech solution.

X2 Dielectric Grease generously applied every use on all fittings keeps my ff running. Buy the automotive sized tube online for a fraction of the cost of the small tubes sold in marine stores.
