and then to the rescue...

A lot of guys came to the rescue - at one point I was helping push the Jeep, but as the wheels spin, the deeper in it goes.

And in case no one knows where the camera is- I think this is it:

is it just me or is this becoming more common? presumably, 15 minutes later, the same guy who got buried was starting some throaty 2-stroke and heading out into the big water with 3 guys with pointy spears. yea! spring!

Rob929 04-25-2010 06:38 AM

This is the third one I have seen in the last 7 days.. All three were 2WD vehicles, backing all the way into the surf to unload a skiff.. What did they think would happen??

ronbo613 04-25-2010 08:09 AM

Wow, rinsing all those nice new vehicles in salt water........

sandydiego 04-26-2010 09:25 AM

Cracks me up everytime I see one of these stuck. Last night two women were parked on the beach in a white car watching the surf and cranking the stereo. As the tide came in they were inches from the water. They did not get stuck but were close to as they pulled away.

Lol Rob929!
You said "what did they think would happen?"

You're too kind, to assume people think.

The TV shows that little 2WD Jeep smashing through creeks and over rocks!
The Nissan commercials say the Xterra is a great vehicle!
Then they must be true.

Those who know better...well...know better.

Alas, the people who don't think will ultimately ruin any good thing for those who actually do think.

I really think those vehicles are simply cars with a different body. Some change in suspension to carry the additional spec'd weight and that's the only diff than say a toyota camry.

Obviously if it is 4x4, more diffs.

Jimmyz123 04-26-2010 11:41 AM

Looks like the same guy that had this happen last week. If this is the second time that guy got stuck he needs his head checked.

sandydiego 04-26-2010 11:45 AM

There should be a tally on the board here "the stuck factor"

One Rev 04-26-2010 01:39 PM

Hey it's a Jeep, isn't it? Jeep's can't get stuck, can they? :D

MalibuJohnny 04-26-2010 02:02 PM

What if

What if they left the trailer attached, and had all those guys standing around...stand on the back of the trailer. Wouldn't that raise the back end of the little truck, thus allowing the rear wheels to become free?

Just what if...;)

newguy01 04-26-2010 02:55 PM

i was thinking same thing as jimmyz123 i went and look at the old post it look the same :leaving::leaving:

There's a new addition to the boat ramp sign.

No grey 2wd SUV's allowed on the beach with inflatables!

Ha!

I think part of the problem is the waves - if you got your wheels in the water, over time and pushed by the weight weight of the car, the water moving back and forth slowely washes away the sand underneath the tires. It sure it doesn't help if you step on a gas pedal like crazy trying to get yourself out...

BTW, that ain't bwe webcam. That's Beach and Tennis Club security cam.

Jim Sammons LJKF 04-26-2010 03:39 PM

I think the one I pulled out was a Nissan

Siebler 04-26-2010 03:45 PM

Its all about driver experience.

Not to mention that most "2wd" vehicles are not even 2wd, they are driving off of one wheel because the guy that bought it dodnt know the difference between an Open Diff, LSD or Locker so he went with the cheapest model.

I've taken my 2wd places that buddies in their 4x4 couldn't make it or wouldn't even try. Ive been stuck 2 times in over 3 years, Once in a sinkhole on a trail and once in the sand on the canals because my buddy stopped in front of me while I was still in a soft pocket. Both were before I had a true 2wd and was running on an Open Diff.

tire pressure it key...if you're having traction problems, AIR DOWN!!! 12-18lbs in the rear on most trucks/SUVs will do, and in lighter mini trucks you can go as low as 8psi without a problem.

Just remember to air up before you make that long drive back to LA!! :biggrinjester:

I saw another cam further down, not sure if it was the one or not, the angle didn't seem right - but I could be wrong.

Dennis 04-27-2010 10:55 AM

Yup, the one further down...
