After the tournament we will all meet for a great BBQ, raffle & awards. Lunch served from noon until 2 pm

Rules:
*** By participating you must adhere to a code of sportsmanlike conduct. Any angler who violates the rules of the events may be disqualified and banned from future participation in all future events as well as all website interactions. This includes conduct before, during and after events both on and off the water as well as online. Conduct deemed inappropriate may be grounds for disqualification or denial from participation in any events or website activities. Judgments of conduct are at the sole discretion of the tournament directors, assisted by website moderators and host facility owners.
Bass division rules:
1. Sand, Spotted Bay and Calico Bass are the only allowable fish for weighing towards your final stringer.
2. A tournament win is based on the total weight of 3 heaviest fish at the final weigh-in at 1pm.
3. All bass submitted must be alive and at least 14” in length.
4. Artificial baits only. Scents are allowed – squid or other cut bait is not. Berkley Gulp! is allowed.
5. All fishing must be from a kayak, canoe, SUP or float tube. No trolling motors or propulsion systems other than paddle, kick or pedal (ie: Hobie kayaks) is allowed.
6. Fish Finders and GPS units are allowed.
7. Tournament hours will be from 7am until 1pm. You are responsible for being on time to the final weigh-in.
8. Scoring will determined by the total weight of an angler's 3 heaviest bass as weighed by the weigh boats.
9. You may weigh up to 10 total bass (no more than 5 in your tank at a time) while complying with DFG regulations. The angler is responsible for keeping track of the number of fish weighed. Attempting to weigh more than 10 bass could result in disqualification.
10. You must abide by all DFG regulations.
11. Bait barge ruling this year, no fishing within 20 yards, that means you or your lure/bait.
12. Fish anywhere inside or outside the harbor as long as all other rules are followed
13. All inquiries, objections or complaints concerning any believed infraction of tournament or DFG rules needs to be stated PRIOR to the awards ceremony.

The halibut division. Very simply, the biggest halibut weighed wins. There will be prizes awarded for the top 3 fish weighed. This is a separate division that you will specify upon check in. In this division you may use live and cut bait and fish more than 1 rod at a time. You must launch and land from tournament location, but are able to fish in or outside the bay! Live bait can be brought, bought or caught. Fish must be hooked, fought and landed from the kayak unassisted. Final weigh in is 1 pm and you must be in line at the scale no later than 1 pm.

Just payed and I can't wait. This is the most fun event of the year and for a fantastic cause.

alanw 10-13-2016 07:17 PM

Paid up. There better be some halibut this year

Halibut or no halibut, thanks for organizing this annual event. Lots of fun and for a great cause. Looking forward to it.

Fishin' Magician 10-14-2016 06:40 AM

Woohoo!!! I have a feeling that this year it's going to be epic with lots of legal fish weighed in.

Three years in a row I've yet to be able to score a 'keeper' sized bass. Caught plenty of them BEFORE tournament day as well as plenty AFTER tournament day, but never ON tournament day. So 2017 will be the year to 'get 'er done'!

Iceman 10-14-2016 08:26 AM

6 months to go, but wanted to get the ball rolling and nail down the date. I imagine the raffle will be every bit as good as last year, as well as tasty food and a swag bag for the 1st 100 entries. :luxhello:

That sub forum does not allow HTML, so easier to post here.

Maybe we could start a Q&A thread in the HOW section with a link to the sign up here.

I'm so bummed, I just realized that I'll be in NY the week of the big tourney.

Andy, is there any way I can contribute if I wont be in attendance?

Buy a ticket. I have done that, even when I know I can't attend

Heroes On The Water 02-02-2017 09:14 PM

Last year was our chapter’s most successful season yet and we are gearing up for the start of another great one.

The participants and sponsors of the annual Mission Bay Classic enable us to continue utilizing the sport we all love to aid in the physical and mental recovery process of injured and or disabled military veterans.

This is a really fun way to help us help those who bravely serve us and we look forward to another great turn out this year.

If you have friends or family that would like to participate but don't own a kayak we will be renting gear again this year in exchange for a donation to our chapter.

We look forward to seeing you all on April 15th!

bwana 02-02-2017 09:28 PM

Don't forget to support the tournament sponsors by purchasing their products whenever possible. A positive comment/review on their social media site is another good way to acknowledge their support of HOW.

Signed up, paid up and ready to fish!

Iceman 02-04-2017 11:01 AM

Yes, last year we must have had 40+ people sign up who knew they could not attend just to support the cause. You can also ask someone you trust :D that will be there to buy your raffle tickets.

Good to see some chatter and YES support these sponsors that give generously every year. :luxhello:
