06/06 Point Loma

Late start to day but got a days worth of fishing in. Headed around the point into the kelp by 0930 the wind was already moving 10ish mphs dropped shrimp into 55’ of water. About a dozen are so sheephead and 1 kelp bass over three hours. Buddy pulled up a handful of sheephead with the biggest one of the day. Went back around the point to try to find a butt. Fished real shallow around the rocks, then deep. Throw a small orange tube bait and colt sniper switched to a dropper lope and shrimp no luck. Went to the bait barge and no luck there ether. Sky’s cleared around 12ish, wind was howling all day. Not a lot of birds moving cause of the wind most likely. Water clarity is really good now.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9453444538.jpg

Surprised you didn’t get any barracuda. Yesterday they were really thick with a few solid bass mixed in.

Congrats on another great outing. That picture of your buddy reminds me when La Jolla used to look like that and more in the amount of kelp at the surface. I never fished the kelp much, but I know that the lack of it at La Jolla now has a major reason to do with the slow fishing. Lack of habitad for bait and smaller fish leads to less larger fish.

They were on the outside edges of the kelp. All good sizes 25-32”
