Double headers on the jig

Normally does not happen too often for me, but now that I am using Slow pitch jigs it's occurring more frequently. Twice yesterday!

If you have had a doubleheader... post it up here.

Man those two tuna must have been quite a pull.

I see that the taxman found you too!

Nice catch.

I guess you could call it "Double Dipping". Must have been a challenge with the tuna.

Thanks, When a double occurs the two fish normally fight each other, so it feels heavy, but generally pulls less drag, and is highly susceptible to getting hit by a shark. A good percentage of doubles never make it to the surface. With the Almacos, about halfway up the kayak started getting towed by the shark. I am surprised the hooks did not rip out.

Two for the price of one! The fight of the 1 bigger blackfin would have been more challenging as it would have taken longer runs, and frequently race up fast requiring quick winding. With the double, it felt heavy, but had less movement, and was just a steady wind up.

I created an album of doubleheaders, most are while speed jigging because slow pitch jigging is still relatively new for me.

Today's Double -- baby Amberjacks on the slow pitch in 280ft.

Wow that's some awesome hookups. Must have taken awhile to get them on the boat.

Thanks, hooked them on the bottom in 280ft, They pretty much fought each other the whole wind up. Less fight than a single AJ of the weight of the two.

Double Header on the Yozuri

Coming in from an extremely slow drift, I caught this in about 40ft of water. Yellow jack is uncommon, the Little Tunny is very common.

Seriously, Johns posts make me seriously consider it! That fishery just looks amazing. Lack of surf might bum me out a little, but it looks like I could make up for that in quality fishing! :reeling:
